VC Investment not hurt by credit crunch
As I’ve been saying for months, attitudes do not align with reality. We have seen month after month, media reports of how consumers are worried about the economy and they won’t be spending this holiday season. We saw that come and go quickly with black friday.
However, an article in Fortune Small Business discusses the effects on small business… namely that there hasn’t been one. While some entrepreneurs continue saying they are worried about the economy, growth has been steady.
Perhaps even more important for those of you looking to get funding for a new or existing startup, venture capitalists are still looking to invest. Kylie Sachs of Ascend Venture Group says money is still out there for good ideas. However, “Investors will shy away from anything dependent on the housing sector or financial services, but other industries could grow.” Small business loans at major banks have also increased and banks project this growth will continue in 2008 as well.
