The Race for Yahoo

The rumors are flying in the tech and business world about Microsoft’s bid for Yahoo.  But over the weekend, there has been more noise off of Wall Street as hedge funds and private equity are working on deals to also make a bid for the fledging Yahoo.  It is rumored that News Corp. is shopping around for private equity for a syndicate deal to buy Yahoo.  Just a year ago it was News Corp. who was trying to offload MySpace to Yahoo in exchange for stock.

As we head into next week, we’ll see what comes of all this.  But Microsoft has a big jump and it’s unknown if bids will be strong enough from other places.  Maybe all this competition for Yahoo shows they really do have a chance to turn around their company!
