The Fate of Yahoo … Coming Soon

February 8, 2008

Yahoo’s board is meeting today to determine the company’s fate, say insiders.  Outside investors are strongly pushing for the Microsoft deal, while long-time Yahoo executives are pushing for a search deal with Google after failing to find an alternative bidder.

The deal with Google would save Yahoo in the short-term, but could potentially bring the company down further as Yahoo would lay off a thid of it’s employees.  Even a bigger concern is whether or not the deal with be approved by government regulators.

We’ll find out the end result soon.  My bet is on the Microsoft deal.  But who knows what will happen!

Laser Shark Responsible for Cutting Underwater Internet Cables

February 8, 2008

You read correctly.  A shark with laser beams is responsible for knocking out the internet all across the Middle East.  The actual shark (pictured to the left - courtesy of the WSJ) is named “Beamer” and has single handedly been responsible for slicing right through the underwater cables.

I had a rare opportunity to interview Beamer last night, and when asked why he was cutting up underwater cables, Beamer had no comment.  One of Beamer’s friends commented that he has been depressed lately and put on Zoloft.  However, the medicine is yet to kick in to give him the happy face like the bouncy blob from the commercial.
